Hi! I'm Phoebe and I'm obsessed with finances and frugal living. I think numbers all day long.
My husband and I are raising our 3 children in a rural commuity in Missouri. We have 2 boys, ages 8 and 4, and a girl who is 7, going on 17.
I have not worked outside of the home for the last 5 years, but my "job" is to save my family money and to find new and exciting ways to be frugal. This is definitely not where I thought I would end up in life. I was raised in a large town, having never cooked a day in my life. When I graduated high school I had dreams of being a pediatrician or a pediatric nurse. But God had different plans for me!
We garden extensively and hope to produce enough this year for our family, as well as bless others. This year we have decided to raise chickens and possibly our own beef. This again is all new to me, I don't think that I have ever in my life touched a cow!
I love the Lord with all my heart, and I strive to be the wife and mother He made me to be. I'm learning all things domestic, and I'm loving every minute of it! When I'm not plugging numbers into our budget, or couponing like a crazy woman, you can find me in the kitchen making anything and everything I can. I like finding ways to make whatever I can from scratch. Not only is it frugal, but I know what is in it! This doesn't just go for foods, either. I currently make my own laundry soap, and fabric softener.
When I'm not attending to my domestic duties, I enjoy being outside, blogging, or being crazy with my kids. When I get the chance I like to sneak some alone time with my husband or go out with some friends.
I hope that you will join me as I learn that the simple, frugal life, is THE life!

Phoebe,
You are a great writer. I'm inspired to get going on reducing expenses in our home. What do you suggest for a husband who's not on the same bandwagon?
Elisabeth-
When we first started, my husband thought that I had gone crazy! He was very resistent. After I began showing him numbers, the savings and the progress that that made in realtion to everything else (the BIG picture) he was more on board.
Today, he loves it! He finds ways to help cut the costs and it is more a team effort. I'm still more adventurous than he..but I'm just glad to have him on board!
My suggestion would be to start slow. See what your family/husband think and go from there. When your husband starts to show resistence show him the big picture and how much of a difference it really does make to be frugal!
Let me know if you have anymore questions!
Thank you for reading!
Phoebe
I'm following along. I hope to learn more. I don't even have a grocery budget. Please don't cringe, it just never occured to me! I'm ready to learn. Although canning is a little over my head for now
I love your blog! I saw your link on orgjunkie.com and just spent the past hour reading your blog... I would finish one post and you would link me to another interesting post! I loved it and have bookmarked your blog! Oh I also stumbled you also!!!
I think I found you through Moms the Word? We are six months into our own debt-free journey, after I discovered Dave Ramsey last Spring. I wish I had found him earlier! Great job on the blog! I love finding more motivators in this journey to live financially free!
