Almost 5 years ago, my husband and I decided that I should stay home and be a mother to our (then) 2 children. It was a tough decision to make, but we knew that with some sacrifice it could be done. I think we forgot to sacrifice.

Fast forward to the end of 2007.

Our one income was stretched as far as it could possibly go. All of our bills were thankfully paid on time, but we were relying heavily on credit cards for purchases such as gas. We had very little wiggle room in our budget, so we thought. Our church decided to offer it's first class of Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University. Out of desperation, we decided to go. It was one of the best decisions we ever made.

I started this blog in June of 2008, about 9 months in our debt freedom journey. I had just seen a local couponer on TV walking out of Walgreens with tons of freebies. I wanted to share those same deals and show others that it if I could do it, so could they. I also wanted to share our freeing journey of becoming debt free and serve as encouragement to those who are trying to break the same chains I am. While it has been long and tiresome (and we still have half way to go) it has also been so rewarding and eye opening in the process.

You can see more of Our Journey here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.

I have learned that living frugal and simple, is THE life to have. I continue to try to find new and exciting ways to grow my snowball and find all the "cents" I can to get debt free.

I hope that you will join me on this journey, and that we can all learn from each other!

It's time to break these chains, and get free!

MercyMe puts it best: "How can I further Your kindgom, while I'm so wrapped up in mine?"

I've just started my journey to get out of debt. I'm still waiting for my husband to get on board which makes it difficult but he's getting better. I've started reading Dave Ramsey's book, started my own savings blog and have finally realized I don't want to live like everyone else and I've actually never felt better. Love what you've written and I'll be following.
