Frugal Idea

So, I've came to the realization that I have an addiction.....to foaming hand soap. Something about it that I just love!

But, I hate to pay the inflated price for it, it's just ridiculous!

While I was wiping up the side of the container one day (my kids seem to get toothpaste everywhere!!!), I noticed that there were little marks on the side. Hrm, wonder what they are for.

Surely those are there to refill said overpriced bottle, right?

Well, yes!!

I ran out of my foamy soap yesterday and decided to give "making my own foamy soap" a try. I looked under the cabinet for regular refillable hand soap.

Apparently, at some point in my life this was an addiction too! I have 2 huge containers of the stuff. Ha.

So, here is what I did. I took the refillable hand soap and poured it into an empty foamy soap dispenser, about a quarter of the way up. Then, I put enough water in it to reach the bottom of the pump majiggy, or to the top line on the container. I had to shake it for just a bit to get the soap fully incorporated.

I have to admit, at first I was a litte skeptical. But, my concoction actually worked.

Awesome!!

Now my year supply of refillable hand soap has turned into a lifetime supply of foamy hand soap!!!

Woot. I love frugal-ness!!

Yep, I tried that too after purchasing a bottle years ago. It looked like watered down soap to me, and in fact it was! I got the inital bottle super cheap (used a coupon with a store sale), and did not like the ingredients in the soap, so I now refill my own. One thing to note, these bottles were meant to be disposable, so they do wear out and will need to be replaced (this happened to the one we use frequently in the kitchen), but you will save a lot of money intil you get to that point!
