If you haven't looked at the sidebar recently and seen my tally of coupon savings....well, I just updated it.
It's amazing! Since June of this year I have saved just over $1000!!! That is an average savings of $200/mo!
My goal when starting this was $500 over basically 7 months, and I thought it would be a toughy getting there. Boy was I wrong!
I still have all of November and December, and I am anxious to see what my final tally will be.
Also, I just updated my grocery spending for this month. I have yet to do my major shopping for the next 2 week period because the big kids were out of school on my normal shopping day. I hope to get that done on Monday.
But, it's gonna be a toughy! I only have $79.77 to spend!!! AGH! I really really hope that I can hit it. My side goal of coming in $25 under will more than likely not happen this month!
I've been crazy busy with Operation Christmas Child at church this week, and just life in general, that I haven't even had a chance to plan the menu and make my grocery list. In this case since the budget is super tight, that may be beneficial. If you see beans and rice all week for the menu...that is why!
Thank you to all of you who are following us on our journey!

$79 for the rest of Oct, does that mean for the last week in Oct, or does that mean the last week of Oct and the first week of Nov? You mention "2 weeks" in there somehwere. I know you can do it! Really look through your cupboards and freezer, dig out your faithful recipes and make a menu plan using as much stuff that you already have as possible :) And when push-comes-to-shove, beans and rice are a healthy meal! :) LOL.
I guess that is kind of confusing! :)
The $79 is all I have left from my October budget...but it has to last me 2 weeks. So, it has to go through November 7th until my grocery budget is replensished. We replenshish our budget every 2 weeks when hubby gets paid.
I looked really fast in my cabinets, and I don't see a whole lot we need, need, other than our normal things like milk and lunchmeat.
I do not shop at Walgreens but have read several of your posts (and others) about money you're saving. I even have talked with my dh about it to see if it would save us money. I would love to get "free" money, so to speak.
The thing is, I don't buy hardly any of the things I see other people buying (like Theraflu, or bodywash, or Benefiber for example. My question is, do you buy things like that because you want to, or do you buy things because you have to? Can you choose what to buy to get those RR and stuff like that?
I just don't think it would be saving me money if I buy alot of extra stuff I don't usually buy in order to get a discount.
I shop at Winco, and am just wondering if buying alot of my stuff at Walgreens would be cheaper. But not if I have to buy stuff I don't want. I would really appreciate your thoughts here, thank you!
momstheword-
I fully agree with you that you shouldnt buy things that you won't use, just to get the discount.
I do not have a Winco around here, so I am not familiar with their prices. But, I can say that I soley buy all of my toiletries and what not at Walgreens.
To give a brief explantion on Walgreens: every week in Walgreen's ad they have certain items that if you buy x amount you will recieve $x back in a RR. They choose what they are and it varies week to week, and there are usually more than one. Also, they have free after rebate items, in addition to rebates on items. If you put the rebate amount on a gift card you get an additional 10%, that is free money!
I will admit that generally I do not buy Theraflu or benefiber or some of the items...but if I get them for free or make money on them, it is a good time for me to try the product, or donate it. I've tried tons of new products this way. Shampoo and Conditioner at Walgrees in generally really really cheap, as well as makeup, candles/air fresheners (I can usually get all of these free..or like .50 ) Their snack items sometimes run really good deals, as well as cleaners. I've not paid more than $1 for name brand cleaners since I started. I was a generic queen for years!
Let me ask this, what items do you generally buy from Winco, and how much? This way I can tell you specifically if I think you can save.
I buy things like paper towels (about 50-56 cents a roll), deodorant (about $1.00), pasta (1.00), kleenex (.88) diced tomatoes (.51). My pop I buy at Costco (about .25 per can) and I buy my cleaning products there.
I think Winco is similar to Kroegers or Publix. Maybe I'll just have to go to Walgreens and check it out. I'd love to save some money. Thanks for your help!
