As part of our journey to lead a more frugal and simple life, I have found great pleasure in making many things for my home. This includes curtains, food, cleaners, gifts, and our very own garden..amongst other things.
As part of the Finding Freedom Series, I would love to hear how you have found freedom with making things for your home and family.
- Has it saved you money over the store bought counterparts?
- Why did you choose to make it?
- In what ways has it helped you to find freedom?
- Financially?
- Peace knowing what is in it/Where it came from.
- With time? (Managing better, quality time with family doing projects)
Those are just a few ideas to get your wheels turning, feel free to address whatever you like. Be sure to come back Friday with your post and link up with us!
Also here is what you can expect in the next couple of weeks for Finding Freedom Friday:
- April 3rd: Finding Freedom With Goals: 2009 Goal Update
- April 10th: Finding Freedom With Organization
- April 17th: Finding Freedom With Time Management
I'm open to any and all suggestions that you may have for upcoming Finding Freedom Friday topics. You can leave a comment with your suggestions, or you can drop me an email (phendricks @ centurytel.net).
I'm looking forward to all your responses!

I make all my baby food at home... just throw a can or bag of fruit or veggies in the food processor, add some water, and store it in ice cube trays... can't beat the ease and availability... plus the ice cube trays make easy portions! Saves a TON of money by not having to buy jars of baby food!!
I have made curtains, clothes and several other things around the house.
Sometimes, it's hard to find an item in the color or style you want, but by making it yourself, even if it does cost a little more, you get what you actually want.
There is also a certain amount of satisfaction in just knowing that you worked on and made it yourself with your own hands.
Thank you so much fo putting this up ahead of time. Have you thought of putting the list and dates on your sidebar, just to let future visitors know what's coming up ahead? Just an idea.
I will copy this to a file so that I can be prepared ahead of time. That makes is much easier to know what's coming. Easier to participate that way, so thanks!
I agree with momstheword - it is very helpful that you posted this information ahead of time!! Thank you so much!
I have to think about this one and promise to post something on Friday.
I have to say I miss my SAHM days. My husband and I were just talking about it.
I'm so tired these days.
I bad. I just don't make a lot...ummmmm....nothing really. So, I'll have to opt out on Finding Freedom Friday this week. I will come back and look at what y'all do though :) Oh, and I'm all over the goal update, organization, and time management.
I used to make my baby's baby food. And it made me feel better knowing exactly what went into it. I also want to try my hand at making my own cleaning products. But I have a 2 year old and a 1 year old at home so I think it will have to wait a while. I love your blog! Check out mine, I've left you something special.
