Menu Plan Week of August 23rd-30th

School is in full swing, and we have welcomed the routine. While I love the freeness of summer, a routine makes things so much easier! Hard to believe that I just planned the menu for the final week of August. Christmas is going to be here before we know it, and it'll be time for 2010! But, I'm not rushing..our weather has been amazing this summer, like an extra long fall. Amazing!

I'm still trying to get into the swing of hot and/or nourishing breakfasts early in the morning. The children catch the bus at 6:45 am, and I love it when they eat here. While school breakfasts are only .75¢ each, I like to know that they are nourished before they leave, as well as my husband. It is taking a bit of preparation and oomph in the morning, but so far so good.

Breakfast:

  • Crockpot Steel Cut Oats w/fruit.
  • Smoothies.
  • Cereal.
  • Scrambled eggs and sausage.

Dinners:

Snacks:

In the last few months I have gotten really lax about tallying up my menu costs and posting my grocery trips. I've gotten multiple requests to bring these back and I really need the accountability, so I hope to back to doing that next week.

Also, this week for Finding Freedom Friday, we will be talking about healthy, after school snacks for your kids. Don't forget to come back and share your ideas!

Whoa! They LEAVE at 6:45?! I guess some bus riders in our district probably do that, too. Thankful I can walk across the street with my girl at 7:45. :)

Good for you on doing breakfasts! That's an area I definitely could improve upon. The sweet & sour chicken recipe looks delicious, I'm saving that one!

Yes, kids do get up early for school. Our teen gets up around 8am or 9am since he attends a distance learning program.
My husband and I were fired from our jobs this Friday. So not only did we lose our jobs but we lost our apartment. We have since found another place and will be moving later this month.
I'm not going back to work so I have to start cutting back on our food budget.
Your blog will help me with plenty of money saving tips.
