Oatmeal Raisin Cookies (2 bags of 20), Chocolate Chip Cookies (2 bags), 2 batches croutons (Garlic Paprika, and Garlic Pepper), French Bread Baguettes, and French Bread. Not included in this picture are the Breakfast Burritios I made this morning; I already stashed those in the freezer.
I started out by tossing my beans in the crockpot for dinner and mixing up my breads so that they would have time to rise. In addition to the 2 batches of French Bread, I also made a loaf of Whole Wheat bread. However, I used my new (bigger) loaf pan, which was too big. Lets just say it isn't the prettiest loaf on the block.
I exeriemented around and made some Apple Streusel Muffins. They were really good--but there is still a bit of tweaking that needs to be done.
Last week when I was cleaning out my freezer (which is what inspired me to do a baking day) we found this old pack of hot dog buns, that was obviously past it's prime. I hated to throw them out, so I turned them into Croutons! So good!
Lots of Taco Meat for the freezer.
Refried Beans. Plenty leftover to freeze (although I've never frozen them mashed up)
Jalapeno Cheddar Tortillas
In the midst of all my baking, I decided to go ahead and make up some Jalapeno Cheddar Tortillas for dinner, instead of my normal, plain jane one. I went ahead and browned and seasoned the whole pack of hamburger, so that I could freeze the leftovers for a quick meal.
Tomorrow, I will be baking again--if I still have energy!
Here is what I am hoping to do:
- Ham/Cheese Pockets
- Pepperoni Pizza Pockets
- French Bread x2
- Whole Wheat Bread(the right way!)
- Apple Butter
- Applesauce x2 batches (made and canned)
I should be set for awhile!

How wonderful! I wish I had known about Baking Day. I would have loved to participate. I may have to have my own baking day. I would love to have all of that yumminess waiting in my freezer.
i feel like a slacker :( i'm sidelined with a foot injury so no prolonged standing or walking. I must have me a baking day next week when all is better.
great job!
The already mashed refried beans freeze well. I used my last bag in tonight's supper so I am going to be sure I make them tomorrow.
I feel lazy compared to what you did. I got fried apple pies and a loaf of lemon bread made. My nephew was into everything today. He got our big bag of cheese from Sam's out of the fridge and starting eating handfuls of shredded cheese.
Hopefully tomorrow will go much more smoothly.
I never thought to make croutons out of buns. Thanks for sharing!

That was so fun today! Except I got so busy baking and cleaning I forgot to take pictures. We will have to plan another baking day. I think one a month? Fun!
Now I'm even more inspired... I've started a list of things to bake! : ) Questions for you -
1) How do you keep up with Twitter when you're so busy? I find it overwhelming when I'm not trying to follow a hash. I can't do it at all when I'm trying to follow a conversation! : )
2) Are you freezing the cookies you made?
3) Do you make extra tortillas to freeze? Do they stick together? I had that trouble after freezing store-bought ones.
Lookin' good, Phoebe! Those jalapeno cheddar tortillas look so yummy. I'm excited that I'm FINALLY getting the hang of making my own tortillas.
[[[Begging]]] you to post all of these recipes! They sound fantastic and very freezer friendly!!!
I decided to get in the kitchen and get some major work done yesterday. I only got three things checked of my cooking/baking list since I was doing a major overhaul of my fridge and freezers.
Do you know how many piddly hot dog buns went in the garbage?! Oh man, wish I had thought of croutons. Oh well now I know what to do next time :)
I think you pulled a sweater string when you thought..."Hmm these buns could be croutons, and THEN I could bake..." Ha ha. I am exactly the same way. Go big or go home I always say! Good for you.
Terrific work!
Great! It all looks fabulous. I'm going to be looking forward to the Applebutter recipe!
