This year we finally planted us a garden instead of just talking and wishing for one. I think we finally realized that all the talk was not getting us anywhere! It isn't a huge garden, but it is a pretty good one for our first year. Neither one of us has ever dealt with gardens so this is all new. It has been a lot of fun..but a lot of work. We have learned a bunch and hope to use it all to our advantage come next year. Hopefully we will be able to make a bigger one next year. Currently I do not have any pictures of our garden...the weeds have went crazy in there! All of the rain the last few days really boosted the weeds, and our plants..thank goodness.
I had to take a picture of this one because it looked like hips and legs to me! Amazing!
And this is Miss Kaitlyn with all her carrots!
She will make some boy an awesome wife someday. She cleaned, trimmed, and shaved the skin off of about 5 carrots all by herself! I was so proud of her. And, surprisingly enough, she cleaned up her mess and helped me in the kitchen to clean up after dinner. All of this without me asking! Maybe I should have checked her temperature! :)
Hopefully I can get my weed situation under control and take some pictures so I can post them. It sure is a sight..and one that I never thought I would be involved in! Amazing how a husband and children can completely change a person!
Does anyone have any tips for growing carrots? Ours taste good at first and then they have a strong twang that hits. We are new to the all of this so any tips would be welcomed!

those carrots look yummy!
elizabeth~I have never in my life had a garden and we were clueless as to how long they took. My mom-in-law told us that when they start coming to the surface and you can see the tops...yank 'em. We did...but I think it was too long! I just got done canning all of them...9 pints! I'm so excited!
