Recently while shopping, I began to look at some of the pre-made gifts on the shelves and realized that many were things I could make at home for less than half what I could buy them for. Why pay the middle man?
Homemade Bath Salts are perfect for teacher gifts, or even in a basket along with some specialty {homemade} soap, a loofah or some washcloths for members in your family. If you wanted to spend a bit more, you could even add a robe and some slippers, along with a soothing candle for a bathtime treat.
The supplies for this project cost me less than $5, and I have enough for 3 gifts. You will need Epsom Salt, Baking Soda, glass containers, and ribbon.
I bought Lavendar Epsom Salts so I wouldn't have to add essential oils. If you can't find scented salts, just add a few drops of your choice essentials oil until you reach your desired strength. I always buy my baking soda in bulk because I use so much of it. Those little boxes never last!
Combine 2 parts of Epsom Salts to 1 part Baking Soda and combine together with a fork. Add into glass containers for giving as gifts. Decorate with ribbon or raffia.
What gifts are you making this Christmas Season?

Great Idea! I'm into making homemade gifts too.
Oooh, these are adorable!!
Stumbled this. Need to make some for MYSELF. My one indulgence is bubble bath, but this would be so much less expensive!

You're so very clever! And I simply adore that jar you picked up for 50 cents. I'd love to be on the receiving end of that gift. :)
I love this idea. My grandma and I made these years ago for a school project. It brings back great memories. Thanks!!
That's a great idea! Thanks for sharing!! You also made me remember about a recipe I found one time for bath cookies for the little ones ... so double thank you:)
Nice! We must have been on the same train of thought today, I made bath salts as well! I made candy cane (spearmint oil), layered white and red in various jars. Tied them with a tag and a ribbon and that was the last of my homemade gifts!!
I love giving those! I've added little lavender flowers (cheap in bulk from the health food store because they're so light)
A 'get well soon' gift could be with added eucalyptus EO (clears the sinuses)
Great idea
these are great Phoebe! I'm going to be experimenting with making a salt scrub tomorrow with essential and olive oils and kosher salt. Will try it on myself first before I make quantity LOL
Such a great idea! I linked to this in my Friday Favorites! ~Lanie
I love making homemade gifts too...I will have to add this to my list for next year!
