Have You Thanked Him?

Today I was in a mad dash to whip my house into shape. Someone was on their way to our home to look it over with a fine tooth comb. Many things hinge on their visit, and it was very important to me that my house be perfect.

In the middle of my frantic cleaning, I found myself becoming very bitter inside.

Frustrated at my children who do not seem to ever put their dirty clothes in the hamper. Or even put their shoes in their closets.

Frustrated at my husband for leaving his muck every single place I turn.

Frustrated because no body had the desire to help.me.out.

And then...

I heard these words coming from the radio. "We rarely thank God for those little things. For giving us a family to do laundry for. For blessing us with a home to clean."

Whoa.

I'm thankful my husband left me his muck. I'm thankful my children forgot to put their shoes and dirty laundry up.

They're healthy. They're doing what they do, day in and day out.

With the recent tragedies in Haiti, I am reminded, not everyone has the pleasure of doing those mundane chores.

Have you thanked Him today?

This post is linked to Gratituesday.

So true! Sometimes we go through the motions of everyday life that sometimes we forget how lucky we truly are! Great Post! Blessings!

Don't you just hate it and love it all at the same time when God SO apparently calls you out like that? LOL I surely appreciate the conviction but I can't say it doesn't sting hehe

That's awesome though, Phoebe! What a reminder :)

What amazing timing for this post. I just ordered a book today called "The Happiness Project" - it's about a woman who spent each day for a year changing her outlook slowly for the better. I've been thinking for awhile now that my attitude hasn't been so great. I've been short tempered with my husband and children b/c I feel like NO ONE EVER HELPS ME OUT! They undermine all of my hard work. Well, they still do it and while I have the right to ask for help, I don't have the right to just complain and make us all miserable. They are, afterall, the 3 most important people in the world to me and I am so grateful for them! Thanks for 1 more reminder to face life with a little more grace.
